When Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg<\/a> was asked to give this year\u2019s commencement address at Harvard, he asked for advice<\/a> from Bill Gates<\/a>. \"The<\/p>\n

Zuckerberg said, \u201cThey know we didn\u2019t actually graduate, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

To which Gates replied, \u201cOh, that is the best part! They actually give you a degree!\u201d<\/p>\n

This recent exchange between two famous Harvard dropouts might lead you to think college doesn\u2019t matter. Numerous media stories and even famous billionaires are glamorizing dropouts<\/a> or encouraging kids to skip college entirely<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s true there are successful college dropouts, statistically speaking, they are not the norm. As researchers in education and talent, we found that the vast majority<\/a> of the country\u2019s success stories are college graduates, such as Sheryl Sandberg<\/a> (Harvard), Jeff Bezos<\/a> (Princeton) and Marissa Mayer<\/a> (Stanford).<\/p>\n
